How plants travel

Plants ship bare-root unless a listing says otherwise. Roots are cleaned and dried, the plant is wrapped in paper, and the parcel is padded so nothing moves. Chollas and long cuttings ride in hard mailing tubes. Seed packets ship in flat padded envelopes.

Everything goes by USPS within the United States.

What shipping costs

Shipping is calculated at checkout from the actual parcel: each plant has a packed weight and size, the order is fitted into the smallest box or tube that holds it, and USPS prices that parcel to your ZIP code. You pay what the postage costs — no flat-rate padding.

Seed-only orders that fit in a flat envelope can go First-Class Mail for much less.

When orders ship

Orders usually ship within two business days. Plants go out early in the week so they don’t sit in a warehouse over a weekend.

In winter you can add a heat pack at checkout. During extreme heat or cold, an order may be held for a few days until the weather on its route is safe; you’ll get an email if that happens.

If something arrives damaged

A cactus should arrive firm and intact. If yours doesn’t — broken in transit, crushed, or not as described — email a photo within three days of delivery and it will be made right with a replacement or a refund.

Because these are living plants, returns aren’t accepted otherwise. Please read each listing’s notes on hardiness before ordering for a cold climate.

Where plants can go

United States addresses only. Some states restrict live plants arriving by mail; if your state is one of them, checkout will say so. Seeds can go anywhere in the US.

Your information

Your name, address and email are used to ship your order and to contact you about it, and for nothing else. They are never sold or shared beyond what the carrier and payment processor need.
